Anachronisms Ahoy
The Internet Diary of William Shakespeare

First entry! [Sep. 17th, 1588 | 08:35 pm]

[ music | Hoobastank - "The Reason "]

Hey all.  I decided to ditch the old online diary...let's just say that I was tired of all the "bad seeds" who kept leaving undesirable comments  :P

For everyone who doesn't know me, I'm 24 years old, and I live in Stratford-upon-Avon, a small town not terribly far from London.  I write plays for a living, but sometimes it can be tough to get my scripts out there for people to read.  For a while I was getting really "burnt out", because I felt like no matter how well I wrote, it wouldn't matter because nobody would read it.

However, I've grown a lot more optimistic as of late.  I ran across this really cool link farm, the address is www.Stratford-upon-Alldumb.com.  It's a great website.  They sure seem like a fun-loving bunch -- yesterday they posted a link to this video of a lesser lord who got hit in the nards with a battering ram.  You should have seen me, I spent like 20 minutes laughing at my computer screen which does not yet exist since it is the year 1588.

Anyway, Statford-upon-Alldumb.com seems like a great way to get people reading the site. I'll try to keep all those Shakespeare fans in the know about what's up with their favorite playwright (even though I know that Ben, Michelle and Jason are the only ones who read this journal :P )

Excited about the future... [Nov. 7th, 1588|03:34 am]

I just finished my first great comedy, The Taming of the Shrew.  I'm proud of it; I just hopes everyone else loves it as well.  I just submitted it to Stratford-upon-Alldumb, and I really think this could be my big break.

Fingers crossed! :)

Ugh [Nov.7th, 1588|08:28 pm]

[ music | Hoobastank - "The Reason" ]

Well that sure is a bummer.  They don't seem to be big fans of my first attempt...

Surely it wasn't that bad!  Ah well, my sincere thanks go to Stratford-upon-Alldumb for choosing to link me in the first place.  Perhaps I'll do better next time.

"Buckner"ing the trend [February 16, 1589|12:24 am]
[ mood | hatching ideas ]
[ music | Hoobastank - "The Reason" ]

Sorry I haven't updated in a while!  I've been working on my latest effort, The Comedy of Errors.  It's whimsical story chronicling Bill Buckner as he attempts to use Windows 98.  I'm sorry, but you won't get that joke for another 409 years or so.

Here's an excerpt...don't be too harsh please! :P

Enter Buckner and Windows 98.

Buckner.  Ay.
Windows 98.  This driver has not passed official Windows security standards.  Microsoft cannot ensure the stability of your system if this driver is installed.
Buckner.  Friend, had I but an ide such as this of what was to come that Autumn eve, I would not sit slouch-backed in your presence, but rather castled snugly in my home as Mookie Wilson ran fetch for mine news pamphlet.
Windows 98.  This program has performed an illegal action and will be shut down.
Buckner.  The question is, shall I spill mine worries over a bit of lawn and dirt, a cruel spheroid, and an Ethiopian Met who fancies a sprint to mine stake-and-canvas?  Ho! as it is not the first torment and frustration to pass betwixt mine legs.
Windows 98.  Are you sure you want to continue?     |__Yes__|   |__No__|
Buckner.
  Ay.

Second time's a charm [February 25, 1589|01:44 am]

[ music | Hoobastank - "The Reason" ]

Well, I'm finished, but not without major revisions.  I decided to start over from scratch, because I didn't want to alienate those who are not time-travelers from the 20th century.

I really think the fine folks at Stratford-upon-Alldumb will love this one.  We can only wait and see.

Ugh 2.0 [February 26, 1589|08:14 pm]
[ mood |   bummed out ]
[ music | Hoobastank - The Reason ]

I get the impression that those who commented on Stratford-upon-Alldumb failed to read my play at all.

www.stratford-upon-alldumb.com/comments/errors.htm

I mean, I know I can't really expect them to really sit down and read something that's on the Internet since the Internet won't exist for another 390 years, but they could have at least given it a quick skim or something.

Screw all this, I need a break from playwrighting.

I got this from Michelle's journal. (sorry gurl! :) ) Figured I might as well do it since I'm so bored :P

I figured that maybe it's time for me to switch gears, so I wrote some sonnets. Maybe something that doesn't require such a present attention span will appeal more to the masses.

:(

I think I'm gonna take some time off from Stratford-upon-Alldumb for a while.  I really appreciate the people in charge of the site for linking me so much; it really means a lot.  It's a shame that their audience doesn't share their taste :P

Hey all, I took one of those online personality tests.  Check it out:

Most of these are just a bunch of baloney, I think, but this one is right on the money!

One last try [January 10, 1596|02:34 am]

[ music | Hoobastank - "The Reason" ]

Okay, I'm going to give this one more go.  I just know that God put me on this earth to share my work with the world.  I've tried to find other ways of getting my work advertised, but the dear folks at Stratford-upon-Alldumb are the only ones who will link me.

My next, and maybe last, entry is called Romeo and Juliet.  This is your last chance, people.  If you don't appreciate its brilliance, there will be no Hamlet, no Julius Caesar, no Macbeth.

Anyone there? [September 21, 2004|3:15 pm]
[ mood | happy ]
[ music | Hoobastank - "The Reason" ]

What's up everybody?  This is Jon from ProgressiveBoink.com.  I just came across this journal today - it doesn't look like it's been touched in over 400 years.  Not sure why it's letting me make an entry; I guess the LiveJournal community was so sparse in the 1500s that they didn't require passwords.

Anyway, this Shakespeare character seems like a pretty cool guy.  Wonder whether his writing was any good.  I guess if it were, I would have learned about him in school or something.  Oh well.

This seemed like a pretty cool LiveJournal, so I figured I'd use it for a post this week.  Maybe it'll get linked on Alldumb.com or something.

Thanks guys. [September 22, 2004|10:13 pm]
