On September 7, 2003, Sweeney posted perhaps the greatest single offensive game in major league history.  He went 6-for-6
with five home runs and nine RBI, and he did it in front of an Anaheim crowd that didn't seem to notice. 

The last home run of the day was his 74th, breaking the record.

"Throughout the season, I had usually tried to schedule my home runs so that I hit them at home," he says.  "But I just couldn't wait any longer."
