Mike somehow got better, and he was on his way to breaking the single-season
home run mark.
Though few outside of Kansas City knew who he was, buzz was generating nationwide over the Man from Kansas City. Mike began receiving hate mails postmarked from the big cities and authored by those who were intimidated by the idea of a small-market home run king. Before long, he had no choice but to grow concerned over the well-being of himself and his family.
