Mr. Clay didn't really draw this here, but once again he's left us to paint a picture, and I imagine that Rock has the facial expression of a man who has just clued himself into the fact that he is doing something stupid, and yet does it anyway.  I don't know anything about flying model airplanes, but it seems like hand-launching your plane and completely forgetting that you'll need to guide it with your remote immediately after you let go would be a frighteningly easy mistake to make.  If you've ever locked your car door and proceeded to shut it right as you happened to catch a glimpse of your keys hanging out of the ignition, you can probably relate to Rock's plight quite well.

We've been learning more and more about Rock.  He's a gentle soul, sometimes made ashamed by the people around him of doing what he loves.  I'm sure that Rock knows that he could easily avoid this mistake in the future by simply holding onto the remote control with his free hand as he threw the plane, but he's too haunted by the jeering of others and the destruction of his precious airplane that he's shamed himself out of ever trying again.  The reluctance to keep pushing at something in the face of resistance cheats people out of happiness on a daily basis, and has probably robbed the world of plenty of amazing things.  Leonardo Da Vinci designed plans for a flying machine, but ultimately never built it, possibly because he thought it would never work.  Hundreds of years later, a team of engineers faithfully carried out his designs, and it flew.  Man was robbed of four hundred years of flight, and it may very well have been because one man thought, "it'll never work."  Granted, maybe a hand launch of a model airplane isn't that big of a deal.  But it was obviously a big enough deal to attempt in the first place, and if you get so close at such a cost and let it defeat you, the defeat will stay with you for a long time.  I'm sure Da Vinci's leg is caught at an awkward angle in his casket after attempting to kick himself.

Although I'm certainly not going to pass judgment on Rock's reluctance to pick up the remote control.  That thing is giving me the creeps.
