liner notes, Algebra & Arsenic hey friends, this is mike jones. thanks for purchasing this album instead of downloading. do that all you want to the satan machine that is the RIAA. take 15 dollars out of their precious billions they could be using to free repression in east timor or putting music programs back in schools. the satan machine will be just fine without that fifteen dollars, don't worry. but when you buy an indie album such as this one, you are helping to keep the scene alive, and for that i sincerely thank you. i'd like
to kill a tree here and list some of the bands i've become friends with, you
should check them out make sure
you check them out, they put on some killer shows. if real music is to
survive it's up to us. remember, if you dig deep enough, there's
always good music out there. and if you dig deeper, there's admittedly bad
music that survives on the strength of word-of-mouth and street cred.
in indie rock it's all about the music, except of course when it is about
hipsterism and and an inescapable superficialism that is commonly known as
human nature. yes, the same sort of superficialism that we revile
mainstream rap for. hopefully this album's lo-fi recording and rustic
lack of production or effort will help you to forget this double standard.
i bet those rap guys don't even know what "rustic" means. |
