| Spear-Chucking Natives (1964) Cartoon
The Adventures of Jonny Quest
Animal
The guys from "The Air
Up There"
Outfit: shields / spears
/ aguileri
Tagline: "LOOLOLOOLOOLOOLOOLOOROTF"
Plot summary: These guys appear for about three seconds in the closing credits of the show.
They choose to spend their three seconds chucking spears at a spaceship. (more)
User Comments: They never appear in a
single episode of the show, but I don't know if they really need to. It's clear that these
guys were just kind of chilling out, minding their own business in the middle of a
lifeless desert. Then some sort of a spaceship/hovercraft stops by, taking up all their
airspace which I guess they were planning on using for a lesser god or something. I'd be
angry too.
Or maybe the guys in the hovercraft stole something valuable from the natives. This
cartoon was made in 1964, and I imagine at the time they were meant to have stolen their
dignity, civil rights, or seat on the bus. But it is now the year 2006, so I guess that
means they stole a basketball and maybe some social progress-eroding rap music.
Before they resort to spear-chucking, they just kind of stand there carrying on and waving
their fingers in the air. Can't blame them, really. If you lived in what is basically the
desert from King's Quest V, wouldn't you want to stay put if you found any form of
life-sustaining vegetation? Two more screens' worth of dragging around in the desert and
they're done for. I wouldn't wish a deathscape of ice cream and typos and lemon-meringue
pie upon even my worst of enemies.
