Julio Franco returned to the United States in 2001 and began five solid seasons in Atlanta. No longer a journeyman or a has-been, he played at the same level as teammates whose parents were younger than he was. "The one thing I didn't like," he notes, "was Mike Krukow saying 'Grab some pine, meat!' whenever I'd strike out. It got old fast, and I ended up just turning the commentator volume off."
