When the Association of World Citizens found Mr. Petrov, he was living in a small town not far from Moscow. By American standards he is not a rich man, and survives on his pension from a Soviet government that, of course, no longer exists.

Asked about the events of September 26, 1983, Petrov humbly maintains that he was only doing his duty, and shies away from the insistance of many who claim he is a hero.
