Progressive Boink is a website on the Internet that was founded in September of 2003 by a gaggle of teenagers/young twentysomethings. We wanted P-Boi to be "the Calvinball of websites" -- that is, an entertainment site that did things that nobody else was doing. Before long, the site became our obsession. It was recognized by The Onion's A.V. Club, VH1, ESPN.com, Deadspin and others, and spawned several recurring series, such as The Dugout.
Circa 2007, we all started to become busied with our own things, and the site took an indefinite hiatus from producing new content. Five years later, we're ending that hiatus -- in part because we love to write, period, and in part because missed working with each other too damn much.
It should be noted that this is not a sports site. We love sports, so naturally they'll bleed into our writing here and there, but we concentrate on all sorts of things -- video games, movies, gender issues, pro wrestling, politics, 1990s Christian ska, Home Improvement, post-apocalyptic fiction, etc., etc.
This is, in fact, the first-ever SB Nation blog that isn't primarily sports-centric. We've re-launched as an SB Nation blog thanks largely to boundless nepotism, but also because we're excited about working within a blog format that actually looks like it was designed in the 21st century. We can't wait to get going, and we hope we entertain you. Or, failing that, at least throw something at you that you haven't seen before.
